The 60 th  Anniversary EUSPBA March

In celebration of its 60th anniversary, the EUSPBA is excited to announce a tune competition! We invite all EUSPBA members in good standing to submit a “massed-bands style march” for consideration. The winning tune will become a new addition to the massed bands repertoire across the EUSPBA, starting in the 2025 Season.
Competition Rules:

  • Submissions should be two-parted marches in 2/4-, 3/4-, or 4/4-time signatures.
  • The tune must be accessible for pipers of all skill levels as it is intended to be integrated into the massed bands repertoire within the EUSPBA.
  • Entrants must be members in good standing of the EUSPBA. No entries by members of EUSPBA E.C. or Music Board. Limit of one tune per member.
  • The Music Board will decide on 5 tune finalists*** (Date T.B.A).
  • Each EUSPBA member will then have the opportunity to vote for his/her favorite of the 5 finalists which will determine the winner.
  • Winning tune to be announced and performed at the 60th Annual General Meeting, December 2024.

Prize: The winning submission will receive a $500 prize and a lasting legacy as part of EUSPBA massed bands for generations to come.

Fine Print: The winning tune will bear the name of its composer forever! However, by submitting your tune, you grant the EUSPBA the rights to perform your work publicly as part of its massed bands in perpetuity.

 Competition Submission Process

1.       Submissions until the July 4th deadline on this form:  Submission

2.       After deciding on the top 5 tunes, the EUSPBA Music Board will appoint 5 of “EUSPBA’s top pipers” to each record one of the tunes in high fidelity.

3.      The recordings will then be made public through various means including the Friday emails.

4.      Six weeks before the AGM (but before the annual elections), a final voting form with the tunes attached will be sent to the membership to vote on the winning tune.

5.      Tune to be performed at the AGM!

6.      Post AGM the tune will be disseminated to the membership to start the process of integrating it into the massed bands repertoire.
