David Hall
David J Hall began playing bagpipes at an early age under the tutelage of his father, Tom Hall. Dave started competing at age 6 and by the time Dave reached his teens, he also reached the professional solo competitive circuit. In 1993 Dave achieved accreditation from the Eastern Unites States Pipe Band Association as a judge for solo piping and bands. In 1995 Dave earned additional accreditation as an ensemble judge.
From 1994 to 1996, Dave served as President of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association. Dave has also served in many other capacities including Officer At Large, Music Board Chair and MidAtlantic Branch Chair. Dave is a life member of the EUSPBA.
Throughout the duration of his piping career, Dave has been a member of the Ulster Scottish Pipe Band. He assumed the role of Pipe Major from his father in 2002. Under Dave’s leadership as PM the band won many prizes in North America and Scotland. After 40 years of competitive piping Dave retired at the conclusion of the 2016 season. Dave currently crafts custom practice chanters and small pipes in his workshop under the name Hall Bagpipe Company and is actively judging and conducting workshops for bands.
Donald Lindsay
Donald became America's 1st full-time professional piper. He served with the United States Air Force Pipe Band in Washington, DC, and has been a central figure in forming several pipe bands, including the Grade One Oran Mor Pipe Band. He conducts annual piping and drumming workshops every summer, teaching and encouraging pipers from around the world.
Piper, teacher, and author, Donald and his father, James F. Lindsay, co-founded the Invermark College of Piping in 1961. James immigrated to the United States from Scotland as a young man. Donald's mom, Isabel, was a 1st-generation American, the daughter of a Viennese mother and father.
Donald attended Paisley College of Technology, Macalester College, and Empire State College. He studied with several master pipers, including Robert Brown and Robert Nicol, pipers to the Royal Family. He became the first North American piper to win a prize at the "majors" in Scotland and went on to win the Argyllshire Gathering Silver Medal in Oban, Scotland.
