Blair Beaton Wins World
In late October, Blair Beaton won the World Solo Drumming Championships contested at Glasgow Caledonian University in Glasgow, Scotland. Blair, accompanied by his older brother Robbie, competed in the under 14 category. Over 200 drummers from six countries participated in the event.
Blair garnered first place accolades from both of the judges to cap a most successful twelve months. Earlier, he took firsts in the Grade I contests at Celtic Classic and Winter Storm. Formerly with the Scotia-Glenville, Blair now plays with Toronto’s 78th Frasers.
