The President’s Award
The award is to recognize a band or individual who has brought international recognition to the EUSPBA or who has performed exemplary service on behalf of the EUSPBA. This year the award is awarded to EUSPBA’s Music Board Chairman, Nick Hudson. This year Nick has brought world-wide recognition to himself and EUSPBA by winning the Highland Society of London’s Gold Medal at the Northern Meeting, Inverness. Nick became only the fourth American to win one of piping’s most prestigious awards. Congratulations Nick!
Daniel F. Dickel Memorial Award
This award is to recognize the outstanding service of retiring Executive Committee members. This year we salute retiring members President Jim Dillahey and Officer-at-Large Derek Cooper.
Jim has guided EUSPBA for the last five years during a period marked by a global pandemic, virtual competitions, and Covid-19 restrictions. It is also a period marked by new scholarship opportunities for members, leadership on the world pipe band stage, and the EUSPBA’s strongest financial position in many years. Thank you, Jim for your guidance.
Derek has always been known as a world class snare drummer playing with world champion drum corps Inveraray & District and leading the Ulster Scottish corps. He brought his considerable skills to the EC serving on the Sanctioning Sub-committee and spear heading the inaugural EUSPBA Winter Series. He was also instrumental in helping to maintain the RSPBA’s Solo World Drumming Qualifier in EUSPBA and establish a series of monthly drumming workshops for EUSPBA members. Thank you, Derek for your service to our membership!
