Rule Change for Grade 4 Bands, Effective 1/1/2015

The following change in the rules for Grade 4 Band MSR competitions, have been approved effective for the 2015 competition season.

Four parts 2/4 march, two parts strathspey and two parts reel OR four parts 2/4 march, four parts strathspey and four parts reel. For the 2/4 march, either two 2-parted marches or one 4-parted march may be played. For the four parts of strathspey and reel, bands must play two 2-parted tunes (4 parts of one tune not allowed).
2014 Season Upgrades Announced

EC Election Results Announced

Votes were counted on the eve of the AGM and results announced at noon at the meeting. All incumbents who ran were reelected, so there are no changes to the Executive Committee.
Thanks to all who carefully considered the candidates and took the time to cast votes. This is an important way to take part in your EUSPBA.
Passing: Maclean Macleod 1923 - 2013

Founding member, past president and Honorary EUSPBA Life Member, Maclean Macleod, passed away peacefully at his home in Newark, Delaware on Saturday, September 21. The entire piping and drumming community mourns his passing and extends its deepest sympathies to his family and countless friends.

2013 Worlds

The EUSPBA sends out hearty congratulations to all member bands who went to the 2013 Worlds. NY Metro took 3rd place in Grade 2, and Catamount took 4th place in Grade 4A. Saffron United made it to the finals in 4B, and Ulster Scottish played in the Grade 3A contest. If we missed anyone, please let the Webmajor know.
Passing: Bruce Kane, Piping Director

Bruce Kane, of Torrington, CT passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013. Bruce was the Piping Director of the Connecticut Saint Andrew's Society Piping Competition held each October at the Goshen Fairgrounds.
The family has announced the following:

Bruce's many years of dedication and support has been very important to the piping community of the Northeast and Metro areas. He will be greatly missed.
EUSPBA AGM to be Held November 9, 2013

The Executive Committee has announced the date and location of the 2013 Annual General Meeting to be Saturday November 9, 2013 at the DoubleTree by Hilton at Newark Airport. Due to the cancellation of last year's AGM due to weather, the Metro Branch has been permitted to host this year's event. Details can be found by clicking the "more" link. more
Branch Guidelines Updated

The EC has updated the Branch Guidelines to allow for electronic elections at the Branch level. This should promote greater involvement at the Branch level. The updated document can be accessed by clicking the "more" link. more
Passing: Kay Bailiff, Mother of David Bailiff

Kay Bailiff passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013. She is remembered by many Association members. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main St., NE, MD 21901.
The funeral will be 11:00am on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 35 Sylmar Rd. (adjacent to Rt. 273) Rising Sun, MD 21911.
April 13, 2013 Scottish Arts Indoor Contest Results Held

Please note that the results from the 2013 New Hampshire Indoor contest are currently being held. Circumstances at the event resulted in the sanctioning some events to be called into question. An agreement has been put in place to rectify the situation. Once all conditions are met by all parties involved, the results will stand for the 2013 results.
